My work inhabits that universal moment when beings - people, creatures, life forms, entities, strangers, and even the unmade - come together for the first time to “check each other out.”

I try to capture a feeling that is hard to describe: that moment of surprise, that blip of insecurity, the honesty of not knowing… that joyous, teetering, blooming feeling when you encounter someone for the first time. Chance encounters, destination unknown…when nothing has just one definition, what do you see? See with one eye or see with many; everything I create has eyes… somewhere. Little worlds, within worlds, within worlds are tiny, are furry, have appendages, tentacles, testicles, even teeth.

Unique, surreal, odd and over-exaggerated characters connect, merge and take shape; sometimes grounded and other times floating in sea or space. These bizarre and awe-inspiring creatures and spirits channel emotion and unlock the subconscious as a means to reveal my imagination; bypassing all reason, reality and rationality. Repressed human emotion, desire, and inner worlds of sexuality and connection appear in outlandish, perplexing, and even uncanny imagery, as it is meant to jolt the viewer out of their comforting assumptions about the world and explore darkness, light, relationships, hope, humor, and love during times of uncertainty.
